The reason, by the way, that I have to censor the ultimate ability is that we ended up using it on one of the planeswalkers in Zendikar. Suffice to say it also fit on one line and had a very simple yet flavorful yet powerful ability. In the end they kept my first two abilities with the tweak that the first one couldn't kill creatures and the second one could only steal creatures. Once Zendikar comes out I'll let you know what Bolas's ultimate would have done if I had my way.

Zendikar does not have a multicolor theme. Lights, the large set from 2010, does not have a multicolor theme. The pendulum always swings, and yes, recently we hit multicolor pretty strongly. Now it's time for the pendulum to swing away for a while. Look forward to the possibility of playing monocolored decks. That said, this doesn't mean we won't make individual multicolored cards if they make sense in a particular environment; just that multicolor is going to be a theme we move away from for a while. (Have no fear, multicolor lovers—it will return one day.)

Zendikar theme:

Here's my hint. There is a space in Magic design that we've explored on individual cards but have never explored thematically as a block theme. We started with that theme and then crafted a world that made it make sense. Once we had the world, we then made a bunch of other mechanics that made sense in that world. The design and creative did a lot of back and forth work to integrate the mechanical themes into the world. I do feel the world we've create is a resonant one, but not one with pirates or dinosaurs. Or robots. Or ninjas. Or monkeys. Let me wrap this answer up by saying that I'm quite excited with how Zendikar turned out, and once I'm allowed to freely talk about it, I anticipate I'll start getting letters to ask me to stop talking about it.

Q: how many planeswalkers are there in Zendikar?
A: Three, one of which is a planewalker that's appeared previously.

thats my first time to register in this forum, but what i just got to know is just amazing and i want to talk to somebody about it.
First of all, i am german, a have drunk and i am in a hurry, so please dont cry about my spelling or grammar. i think it's not that bad.
I just came back from my uncle's birthday. there was a man at the party, who mentioned that he was working as a (german of course) translator for wotc. so i started a talk with him and asked if he knew anything new about zendikar. first he was "no i cant tell you", but the later it got the more he spoke. i dont know if thats right, because when he was sober, he stated that he had not so much to do with zendikar till now. thats what he said:

Story:

Zendikar is a dying plane. the mana there is in some way different to other planes and more powerful. the elder civilization abused the mana and fought wars which almost destroyed the planet. then they disappeared millenia ago. the other races were left on a dying planet with all the technology etc. because the elder civilization anticipated that planeswalkers would seek zendikar for the powerful mana and their powerful technologys, they left traps and mighty spells everywhere to protect the artifacts etc.
NOW in set [Zendikar] there is a war ongoing between different original races of the plane and planeswalkers who have come to gain power or seek technology. the already dying plane is even more damaged.
in [worldwake] the planet is awakening (as the name suggests) and is fighting against every other party on zendikar.
[Set 3]: the ancient civilization is coming back and wants to "heal" zendikar again.

mechanics:

morph without morph cost.
there are enchantments and artifacts, and even some instants with morph. some with morph cost, some have "if 3 or more creatures are attacking you, flip enchantment up". worldwake will introduce lands with morph.
fortification is introduced.

lands are another (not so big) theme. there are land creatures like dryad arbor, manlands like in 10E, lands that become creatures under circumtances (i think many of these will be in worldwake not in zen). there will be new duals. they will be like: "add W to your mana pool. if you control 4 or fewer lands, add W or U to ur manapool instead." the land number itself will not so much differ from normal blocks, but there are many spells targeting lands like fortification.

Ja maar de wording was toen niet 'if it was kicked' maar 'if the kicker was payed' :).

Je snapt het niet. Dat deck draait erom om creatures vanuit je graveyard in het spel te krijgen, zonder er (nauwelijks) iets voor te doen. Denk ashen ghoul, nether spirit, akuta born of ash, nim devourer.

Hmm met die rare landjes 'if you have 7 basic lands of the same type' proberen ze monocolored wel te pushen zeg. Hij is nog best goed ook, deze witte.

Harrow is echt een geweldige kaart vind ik, mooi dat ze 'm teruggebracht hebben.
